Ruby Bartels

Ruby Bartels, age 91 of Belle Plaine, passed away on October 26, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Ruby was born on June 28, 1926 in Hancock Township, Carver County to William & Nora (Schultz) Bessel. She married Earl Bartels on June 24, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Ruby worked evenings at Norwesco in Belle Plaine and summers at Green Giant. They farmed in Faxon Township, Sibley County from 1951-1960 at which time they moved to Blakeley Township, Scott County where they remained until Earl's death in 1992. Ruby then moved to Belle Plaine. She enjoyed family, the holidays, dancing, traveling and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, sister Dorothy Zellmann, brother Alvin Bessel and infant great granddaughter Lillyan. She is survived by her children, Duane (Carol Ann) Bartels of Sauk Rapids, Sharon (William) Sirek of Belle Plaine, Renee (Ronald) Meuleners of Henderson, Brenda (Christopher) Cuddeback of Coon Rapids. 12 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren. Brother; Les (Blanche) Bessel of Belle Plaine, Sisters; Darlene (Clarence) Zellmann of Young America and Elaine (Donald) Zellmann of Young America, Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Carol and Jim Moorhouse of Boise, Idaho and Dorothy Bartels of Belle Plaine. Many Nieces and Nephews.
