Russell D. Skelly, age 56 of Le Sueur, formerly of Mankato, died unexpectedly at home on Monday morning, December 3, 2018.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Memorials are preferred.

Russell was born on October 26, 1962 in Mankato, MN to Floyd and Delpha (Holmgren) Skelly.  He grew up in the Mankato area where he was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout.  His Eagle project was restoring the Pioneer Cemetery in Mankato. In 2004 he was honored with a park sign at the Cemetery. He graduated from Mankato West High School in 1981.  He was employed at National Poly, (Atlantis Plastics) and later worked at Mankato State University for many years before beginning employment at Amazon in Shakopee for the past 2 years.  Russell married Susan Hanson on July 23, 2010 in Mankato.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Alyce and Andrew Skelly of Waseca, MN; parents, Floyd and Delpha Skelly of Mankato; siblings, Steven (Pam) Skelly of Lakeville, MN, Scott (Brenda) Skelly of Mankato, Debbie (Doug) Steenhard of Kenyon, MN, and Gail (Bruce) Connelly of Mankato;  siblings-in-law, Shirley (Tom) Rogers of Wilmar, MN, Cindy Smith of Fairfax, MN, Tammy (John) Wenner of Pequot Lakes, MN, Billy (Kathaleen) Hanson of Sioux, Falls, SD, and Joey (Kristie) Hanson of Titusville, FL.

He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law; father-in-law; and sister-in-law, Andrea.
