Ruth (Fahey) Effertz, age 78 of Belle Plaine, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2018 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. There will also be a one-hour visitation prior to the Mass at church on Tuesday morning, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30a.m. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Faxon Township. Ruth was born in Faxon Township, Sibley County on April 7, 1939 to William and Bridget (Walsh) Fahey. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1957. On April 18, 1959 she married William Effertz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. William died unexpectedly in 1975. Ruth was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren's extracurricular activities. She was a great cook and baker. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Billy, Gene & Pat Fahey. Ruth is survived by her sons, Bill (Bonnie) Effertz of Athens, Wisconsin, Bob (Mary) Effertz of Belle Plaine, Daughters, Bonnie (Chris LaPoint) Stanberry of Chaska, Beverly (Jim) Olson of Cologne, Bridget (Ryan Jopp) Solheid of Belle Plaine, 11 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren, Sisters, Dorothy Bartels of Belle Plaine, Eleanor (Jim) Caneff of Hastings, Theresa (Bud) Renne of Belle Plaine, Brothers, Kenneth (Theresa) Fahey of Chaska, Roger (Doris) Fahey of Belle Plaine, Many Brother-in-Laws, Sister-in-Laws, Nieces & Nephews.
