Ruth C. Kamps

Ruth Charlotte Kamps, age 92 of Belle Plaine and formerly of LeSueur died on her birth date, June 24, 2014 at the Kingsway Assisted Living in Belle Plaine. She was born on June 24, 1922 in Ferndo, Minnesota to Otto and Minnie Wittie. She grew up in Stewart, Minnesota and graduated from Stewart High School. She married Harold Kamps on November 12, 1942 at Stewart, Minnesota. They made their home in LeSueur where she worked at Harold's Shoe Store, Green Giant Company for 32 years, Weight Watchers for 13 years and V & S Variety Store. She was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in LeSueur and the Women of Grace and had taught Sunday School. Important in her life was her membership and friends in Al-Anon. She enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and time spent with family, especially grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Roger) Wilkinson of St. Peter and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Kamps of LeSueur. Grandchildren, Bob (Shelley) Wilkinson, Ed (Heidi) Wilkinson, Pam (James) Bergeman, Jeff (Sandie) Kamps , Jake Kamps and Nick (Angela) Kamps. Great-grandchildren, Eddie (Marie), Tommy and Anthony Wilkinson, Cole and Sean Bergeman, Tyler, Haleigh, Nathan, Johnathan, Addison, Ella, Lela and Kennedy Kamps and 1 Great-great grandson, Eddie Wilkinson. Also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Spoors of Bayport and Dorothy Kamps of South St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Kamps in 1988, son, Douglas Kamps in 2013 and a granddaughter, Lynn Marie Wilkinson in 1967. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeSueur. Rev. Ed Fredrich will officiate. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
