Ruth Mary Noack, age 107, of St. Cloud and formerly of Arlington, Minnesota died on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the St. Benedict Senior Center in St. Cloud. She was born on May 29, 1904 in Green Isle, Minnesota to Daniel and Mary (Morrin) Sweeney. Ruth attended elementary and commercial school in Green Isle. She moved to Arlington in 1918 and graduated from Arlington High School in 1922. After attending Mankato Normal School from 1922-1924, she obtained her teaching certificate and taught 2nd grade at Olivia from 1924 to 1926. Ruth married Maurice F. Noack on July 14, 1926. Ruth was very active in her community. She was a 1926 Charter Member of an Arlington bridge club, Chairperson of the Ration Program during World War II for Arlington, supporter of the Arlington Library and benefactor to the Maurice Noack Family Scholarship Program for Arlington High School graduates. In June of 2000 Ruth was honored as the oldest living Arlington High School graduate. Ruth was known for her generosity, socializing skills and random acts of kindness. Ruth loved to travel, read and shop. She is survived by sons, Ronald (Barbara) Noack of Buford, GA, Barry (Pat) Noack of Maple Grove, MN and David (Gay) Noack of St. Cloud. 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Maurice on Nov. 10, 1988, grandson, Steve Noack and siblings, Mildred Sweeney, Clarence Sweeney, Mabel Sweeney, Helen (Clarence) Lindquist, Leonard (Margaret) Sweeney, Irene Sweeney, Leo (Margaret) Sweeney and Lucille Sweeney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. Fr. Jerry Paulson and Fr. Keith Salisbury will celebrate the Mass. A time of visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
