Sharon L. Laabs

Sharon L. Laabs, age 72 of Belle Plaine, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in rural Henderson. Rev. Diane Goulson will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11am on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Carver. Sharon was born on October 16, 1941 to John "Jack" and Adela (Hespenheide) Krueger in St. Peter. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1960. She married Orville Laabs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine on June 25, 1960. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Sharon enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing word find, completing puzzles and watching Jeopardy. She also loved going for coffee on Monday evenings. Sharon is survived by her children, Ruth Laabs-Cody of Belle Plaine, Brian (Kathy) Laabs of Cottage Grove and Jane (Bill) Marks of Shakopee; 2 grandchildren, Ashten Laabs and Hayden Cody; sister, Marilyn (Leo) Bigaouette of Belle Plaine; sister-in-law, Carole Smith of Belle Plaine and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville; son, Steve Laabs; son-in-law, Tom Cody and brother, John Krueger.
