Sidonia Anderson

Sidonia "Sid" Anderson, age 93 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28 at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 West Main Street, in Belle Plaine. Rev. Newell Krogmann will officiate. Visitation will be at the church at 10:00 a.m. There will be an Order of Eastern Star memorial service at 11:00, with the church service following immediately afterward. A luncheon in the church fellowship hall follows the service. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, at a later time. Sidonia ("Zdenka" in Czech) was born at home in Hope, Minnesota on February 8, 1921 to Wencl and Sylvia (Srsen) Chott. She grew up in the Hope area and graduated from Owatonna High School. She met Bob Anderson at Spectacle Lake near Cambridge, and they were married on October 12, 1943 at the Ft. Snelling Chapel. They lived in Crookston for a time before moving to Belle Plaine and purchasing a drug store which they owned and operated for 35 years. She was a proud 60+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, 25+ year member of the Social Order of the Beauceant, and 60+ year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. She was also active in Scouting as a Den Mother, and enjoyed travelling the five-state area with her husband Bob to activities and concerts of the Minnesota Over 60 Band. Sidonia is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Robert; Children, Ann-Marie (Edgar) Webster of Tampa, FL, children Kari Lavoie and Jay Murray; Robert Jr. (Sherrie) Anderson of Merriam Woods, MO, children Joe Anderson and Jeri Rosenberg; Thomas (Becky) Anderson of Eagan, MN, children Chris Anderson and Emily Anderson; Mark (Jeanette) Anderson of Eden Prairie, MN; six Great Grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorothy Anderson of Mount Dora, FL; and cousin Edward A. (Doris) Srsen of Sun City, AZ. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Belle Plaine, or to the Eastern Star Training Award for Religious Leadership (ESTARL) of Minnesota.
