June 21, 1960 — February 28, 2024

Le Sueur

The family of Susan Steffen expresses their deepest gratitude for everyone who supported us during this most difficult time.  Your thoughts, prayers, and kind words meant a lot to us.

Susan F. Steffen, age 63 of Le Sueur, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.  A Celebration of Life is being held at the Red Men Club in St. Peter on Saturday, May 4th, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. There will be a Ceremony in Honor of Susan performed by the Degree of Pocahontas starting at 3:00 P.M.

Susan was born on June 21, 1960 in Le Sueur to Dale and Doris (Becker) Felmlee.  She grew up in Le Sueur and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1978.  After graduation she moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  She enjoyed exploring what the area had to offer, especially the Grand Tetons.  Upon moving back to Le Sueur, Susan enrolled at Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie, MN and obtained a degree in Floriculture.  She worked for a local greenhouse and took care of the park gardens before settling into a long career at Sanofi/Bimeda in Le Sueur.

Susan became a mother to Nicholas in 1983.  They loved pizza nights, watching movies, and playing pranks on one another.  She enjoyed playing cards and cribbage with her friends, doing needlepoint, grilling out, and spending time with family.  Susan loved taking in the scenic river valley during long motorcycle rides and listening to music with her husband & best friend Lyle Steffen who passed away in 2014.  One of her finest traits was her quick wit and sense of humor.  It brought a lot of smiles and laughter to those around her.

Susan is survived by her son, Nicholas Hovland and his partner Carsten Spry; siblings, Kenny Felmlee and his friend Sharon Prins, Rick (Ellen) Felmlee, and Barb (Essie) Mostaghimi; sister-in-law, Susan Felmlee; and beloved pet canines, Lucy and Killer (aka Dwaine); along with several nieces.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, and her parents.
