Suzy Burmeister

Suzanne (Suzy) Mary Burmeister, age 77, of Belle Plaine, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 8, 2022.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.  Fr. Michael Kaluza will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday at the church.  Interment will follow service at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Suzy was born November 9, 1944 to Joseph and Margaret (Molamphy) Paquin.  She graduated from Amery (Wisc.) High School in 1962 and moved to Minneapolis and worked at Donaldson’s. She met Richard Burmeister at the wedding of Lona and Marlin Baillargeon, where Richard took one look at Suzy and said “That’s Mine.” Suzy and Rich were married June 13, 1964.  They expanded their family by adding Joseph in 1965, Gina in 1967 and Michael in 1969.  After moving a few times, they settled down in Blakeley, Minnesota where they raised their family. Suzy worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years and upon retirement, she worked with individuals with developmental disabilities.  She loved Richard, her children, her grandchildren, great-grand children and her family.  She was an unofficial “Master Gardener” with a love for flowers, an incredible cook and she will be missed and forever loved by all who knew her!

Suzy is survived by Richard Burmeister - her loving husband of 58 years, son Joseph (Tricia) Burmeister, daughter Gina (Brett) Carlson, son Michael (Allison) Burmeister, grandchildren Brooks (Alisha) Burmeister, Heather Burmeister (special friend Eric Siegel), Hannah Burmeister (special friend Jack Norlen), great-grandchildren Maxen and Elliana Burmeister, many nieces and nephews and friends.  She is survived by her sisters Dianne (John) Burmeister, Joann Rupp, Julie (Nick) Roberts and Meg (Daryl) Lemme and her brothers Jack Paquin, Tony Paquin and Peter Paquin; her brothers and sisters in-law Ann (Dale) Hoehne, Dennis (Helen) Burmeister, John (Dianne) Burmeister and Laura (Tom) Kinning.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Paquin and Margaret Paquin; brothers Frank Paquin, Bernie Paquin and Philip Laval, and father and mother-in-law Jack and Clotilda Burmeister.
