Terence James Leonhardt “Terry” of Belle Plaine, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1-3 pm at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN (219 N. Willow Street, Belle Plaine, MN). Following the visitation a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held from 3pm- 5pm at the Belle Plaine Vets Club in Belle Plaine (221 N. Meridian Street, Belle Plaine). Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Jessenland, MN at a later date.
Terry was born on November 11, 1949 and passed on January 1, 2026. He was born to Tom and Margret (Oldenburg) Leonhardt. He was baptized at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Jessenland, MN.
While growing up on the family farm in Faxon Township, Terry was a member of the Faxon Eagles 4H club, he won several grand champion ribbons for his photography exhibits at the Sibley County Fair.
Upon graduating from Belle Plaine High School in 1967, Terry pursued a career in computers, working briefly for the Honeywell Corporation before taking a job at Control Data where he worked for many years in their Magnetic Peripherals division. Terry also worked for Northwest/Delta Airlines, where among other things, he developed computer programs for their baggage claim system. He would also take a lot of flying trips with his job!
In May 1986, Terry married FlordeLuna Pana, they settled in Belle Plaine and also spent time in Flor's native country the Philippines. While married they built a house in the Philippines. They eventually sold the house and bought a condo in Manila. While away on business trips he would have Flor come with him and they would do a lot of touring of whatever city they were in at the time. Terry loved being in the Philippines, they even talked about settling there, but with Terry’s health they decided to stay here in Minnesota.
Throughout his life, Terry also enjoyed various hobbies, including photography, model rocketry, flying his many drones and beekeeping. Terry liked living on family farm with his pet goat, Finnigan, and his Collie Laddy. The farm is where he would enjoy hunting with a musket rifle, which he built from a kit, and cross-country skiing. His expertise in computers enabled Terry to build multiple computers, and his beloved 3D printer.
Terry is survived by his wife, Flor of 39 years; sister, Betty Strobel of LeSueur; brother, “Bill” (William) Mary of Crosby, MN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Leonhardt of Shakopee, MN and sister-in-law, Connie Villpando of the Philippines; brother-in-law, Milo (Elaine) Gonzales of the Philippines and sister-in-law, Cora Pana of the Philippines. Terry is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Margret; brothers, John (Jean), Lawrence, George, and Joe; parents-in-Law, Isiddro and Irene Pana; brother-in-law, Donald Strobel; sister-in-law, Remi (Alberto) Valle; brother-in-laws, Frederico Pana, Larry Villpando and sister-in-law, Luz (Domi) Lacson.
