Terry S. Penland

Terry S. Penland, age 55 of Le Sueur, died suddenly while working in his garden on Saturday at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 15, from 4-8 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will continue from 8-10:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Kolden Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later time. Terry was born on July 26, 1958 to DeLos & Dorothy (Beardsley) Penland in Angola, Indiana. He grew up in the Hamilton, Indiana area graduating from Hamilton High School in 1977. He received his Chemical Engineer Degree from Purdue University in 1982 and his Electrical Engineering Degree from Colorado University in 1987. He married Janet Patton on September 2, 1989 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Phillip, So. Dak. He began a long career with Dow Chemical Co. in January of 1988 retiring in 2007. Terry enjoyed tennis, basketball, carpentry, windsurfing and gardening. Memorials are preferred. He is survived by his wife Janet; Parents, DeLos & Dorothy Penland of Hamilton, Indiana; Siblings, Kathy (Toby) Meyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Steven (Marilyn) Penland of Chicago, Illinois; Parents-in-law; Leo & Joan Patton of Phillip,South Dakota and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Mark and sister-in-law, Cathy Knight.
