Timothy D. Boston passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026 in Mankato, Minnesota, surrounded by loved ones. He struggled with significant health issues over the past ten years, which led to his passing.
Tim was born on October 29th, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles Boston and Joyce (Boston) Burns. He was the youngest of two children born in the Boston household. His younger years were filled with adventures and curiosity. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Hawaii and also served in the Philippines. Adventure followed him there and it didn’t take much for him to share stories with anyone who asked. An injury ended his active duty career and he returned to Minnesota to start his next journey.
His next journey led him to fatherhood. He married Joy (McGuire-Olson) on August 20th, 1995. There would be three children added to the family, Ana Boston, Samuel Boston and Reagan Boston. Family life was something he embraced and shared his love of adventures and curiosity with them. From trips to Canada to buy fireworks, multiple trips to Mexico, and weekend trips to the North Shore (in Minnesota). Additional family members (non-human) were added along the way, with Moose (Bernese Mountain dog) being one of his beloved companions.
His employment varied across his lifetime, though he spent the most time working for Applebee’s at various locations (Hutchinson, MN; Hastings, MN; Cottage Grove, MN; Bemidji, MN). There he was actively engaged in supporting the community with fund raisers, hosting Make-A-wish events, memorializing Veterans, and demonstrating generosity in multiple ways. He was also generous to others, outside of work, giving to others in a quiet fashion, with little fanfare. In the later part of his life he explored other educational and employment opportunities.
Physical illness, repercussions of a stroke in early 2009, grew in intensity as his life progressed. He eventually moved to St. Peter, MN to live with his sister, and received support, love, and companionship until he passed. During the last year of his life, he channeled his creativity into writing books and sharing his life with others, in a more public fashion.
He is survived by his children and mother of his children: Joy (Boston) McGuire-Olson of Denver, CO; Ana Boston of Minneapolis, MN; Samuel (Cherish) Boston of Denver, CO; Reagan Boston of Bemidji, MN, and two grandchildren (Henry and Adam Boston); his mother, Joyce (Tom) Burns, and his sister, Terri (Darrell) Green; along with nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by Charles Boston and his niece.
