Todd L. Sprengeler

Todd L. Sprengeler, age 63, of Green Isle, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from ALS. A Memorial Service for Todd will take place Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg at 11 a.m. with Rev. Todd Bentz, officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at in the church cemetery with a luncheon to follow. After the luncheon, a reception will take place at The Club New Yorker in the back room. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Association are preferred.

Todd was born on July 19, 1963, to Waldo and Gretchen (Schlueter) Sprengeler in Glencoe. He went to Emanuel Hamburg Lutheran School until 8th grade. Todd then attended Sibley East High School and graduated in 1981. During school, he played for the basketball team and was in 4-H. While he was in school, he helped his parents with their dairy farm. After working on the family farm, he worked for Carver County for 27 years while cash crop farming. He loved to run the grain cart and harvest in the combine. Farming was not just a job for him, but a true passion. He began renting out his farm 13 years ago but never stopped being a farmer.

Todd met Lisa Smith and they were married on April 8, 1989, at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur. They started their family on the farm and had one son, Nolan. They had many family dogs that Todd loved and treated just like family. He cherished the time spent with his wife and son. Todd and Lisa loved taking vacations together to Maine, Hawaii, and Florida; always looking for that next adventure. Nolan and Todd would go on many fishing trips together with the most notable one at Big Stone Lake. They would also go hunting together, especially for pigeons and traveling to Florida for iguanas. His dog, Star, was his loyal companion. He celebrated her birthday just like you would for anyone else – dressing up and spending quality time together. Todd always made sure that his family knew they were loved and well taken care of.

In his free time, Todd enjoyed taking car rides just to go look at neighboring farm’s crops. He took on the duty of being a sports coach for T-ball, even though he secretly didn’t know all the rules. He liked to spend time tending to his plant, Fern. Todd was extremely outgoing and valued talking with loved ones on the phone and the social hours he would have on his porch. He loved his side-by-side rides with Star next to him. He craved any type of adventure and experience he could have. He waited only two weeks after selling the dairy herd to go skydiving. ALS never slowed him down, and those around him made sure to adapt things for him so that that he could still do what he loved.

Todd is survived by his wife, Lisa of Green Isle; his son, Nolan Sprengeler of Plymouth; brother, Wade (Holly) of Independence; sister, Denise Sprengeler of Rockford; nephew and niece, James and Jenny; brother-in-law, Gary Smith (partner, Cathy Tenerelli); sisters-in-law, Julie (Greg) Miller, and Lori (Jeff) Hammes; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Jessica) Miller, Kami (Mike) Wondra, Jessica (Jason) Lind, Jackie (Eddie) Fahey, and Alex (Kyle) Flynn; his beloved dog, Star; and many other great nieces and nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Gretchen; in-laws, Jim and Dorothy Smith; and all his previous family dogs.
