Viola St. John

Viola St John, age 81 of Arlington passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10th at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 9th and one hour prior to service time Saturday all at Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Viola Emily St John was born on July 28, 1935 to William and Alma (Wentzlaff) Brockoff in Arlington, MN. She was baptized on August 11, 1935 by Rev. Heidmann at St Paul's Lutheran. She was confirmed on April 10, 1949 by Rev. Bradtke at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Arlington, MN. Viola graduated from Arlington Public School in 1954. Viola was united in marriage to Dale E. St John on December 10, 1955 by Rev. Bradtke at St Paul's Lutheran Parsonage. Viola was a homemaker and helped run the family farm until 1999 when they moved to town. Viola enjoyed playing cards, setting puzzles, baking and being with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her time with the grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She will be best remembered for her culinary skills, especially her chocolate chip cookies and apple pie, you never left Ole's hungry. Viola is survived by sons Daryl (Lori) St John of Arlington, Gary St John of Arlington, Grandchildren Nicholas (fiancé Jen Anderson)St John, Brennen, Trevor and Gracie St John, Meagan (Kyle) DeVlaeminck, Candice (Jason) Tostenson and Talia (sp. Friend Victor Ruiz) Gilster; Great Grandchildren Arayah St John, Cole, Bailey, Draco, Mason, Christian, Harper and Sullivan; sisters Melva Teschendorf, Lilah Boser and Orma Menk; brother-in-law Martin Brueggemeier and many nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her parents Wm and Alma Brockoff; parents-in-law Wm and Caroline St John; husband Dale E. St John; daughter Cheryl St John; brother Lloyd Brockoff; sisters Arlene Pieschke and Violet Brueggemeier; sisters and brothers -in- laws Mildred Brockoff, Marvin Teschendorf, Alton Menk, Henry Mammenga, Arnold Boser, Matthew Robeck, Vernon Pieschke, Calvin and Esther St John, Lyle St John and Arlene Bruch.
