Walter F. Buckentin, age 92, of Arlington, MN died Monday, May 30, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Funeral services will be Friday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m., at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, with Rev. Don Andrix officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, and one hour prior to the service time Friday at the church. Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hamburg. Walter F. Buckentin was born September 25, 1918, to Fred and Anna (Droege) Buckentin in Hamburg MN. He was baptized on October 6, 1918, and confirmed on March 20, 1932, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, by Rev. Bouman. Walter was united in marriage to Irene Oelfke on April 13, 1941, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bouman officiating. After their marriage, they farmed in Washington Lake Township. Walter moved to Arlington in 2000, most recently residing at Golden Hearts assisted living. Walter was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, where he was active in many of its functions. He was also a member of the Hamburg Creamery Association, and served on the board. Walter loved to travel, camp, and play cards, take his grandchildren fishing, and spend time with his family and friends. Walter is survived by his daughter Evonne (Robert) Willmsen of Arlington, grandchildren, Mark (Monica) Buckentin, Kraig (Lauri) Buckentin, Christine (John) Doerr, and David (Vanessa) Willmsen, great grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Buckentin, Jacob, Brooke, and Tyler Willmsen, brother Harold (Mary) Buckentin of Houlton, WI, nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, son Robert, grandson Lee Willmsen, brother and sister-in-law Albert and Myrtle Buckentin, sister and brother-in-law Selma and John Sund, sister - in-law and brother-in-law, Helma and Ernst Ristow. Serving as casket bearers for the funeral are Walter's grandchildren.
