Wayne Bohlke

December 21, 1935 — July 9, 2014

Wayne Bohlke, age 78 of rural Le Sueur, passed away on July 9, 2014 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Thomas McCabe will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Wayne was born in Le Mars, IA on December 21, 1935 to Joseph and Mary (Mueller) Bohlke. He grew up in Remsen, IA and graduated from Le Mars High School. He graduated from Iowa State College with an Industrial Engineering Degree. Wayne married Donna Moeller on June 17, 1958 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, IA. He received a Masters Degree in Information Systems from Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a 1st Lieutenant boiler engineer and was stationed on the U.S.S. Midway in California for 3 years. The family lived in various places before moving to Le Sueur in 1968. Wayne worked at Green Giant and opened Bohlke International Harvester Dealership in Le Sueur. He later worked as an independent Certified Financial Planner. Wayne was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Le Sueur where he was Grand Knight, He hosted a prayer group at their home for 20 years and was a State Delegate for the Republican Party. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, especially the trips to Rainy Lake, gardening and landscaping. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Cooper and a brother, Ken Bohlke. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Le Sueur; children, Kathryn (John) Distel of Osceola, WI, Steve (Carmen) Bohlke of Annandale, MN, and Nancy (Scott) Hanowski of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Clark, Jenna Clark, Stefanie (Andrew) Schroers, Brittani Bohlke, Kellie Bohlke, and Nicholas Bohlke; Brothers, Glen (Tanya) Bohlke and David Bohlke and many nieces and nephews.
