William "Bill" C. Ehlke

William C. "Bill" Ehlke, age 84 of Arlington passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7th at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at church and continue 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa with burial following in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Bill was born on September 21, 1930 in St. Ansgar, Iowa to Charles and Clara (Martin) Ehlke. He married Dorothy Mitchell on January 14, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Osage, Iowa. In 1986 Bill and Dorothy moved from the family farm in Iowa to Arlington. Bill was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Ia. and Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, having served as a Sunday School teacher for 40 years. He worked for the local co-op in Arlington for 28 years and was support staff for the Kolden Funeral Home since September 2006. Bill was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a past president of the Mitchell County Farm Bureau and a former Sibley East school board member. Bill was a member of the Sibley County Chapter of Thrivent, Arlington Lions, Arlington Chamber of Commerce and served numerous years as a judge of 4-H at Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota county and state fairs. Bill was involved in many organizations, committees and volunteered his time. Bill devoted his life to helping and serving others. Bill is survived by his special friend; Joyce Perrault of Arlington, his children; Deborah A. (Jake) Weber of Clear Lake, IA., Mary K. (Dennis) Hapes of Collins, IA., Daniel W. (Kim) Ehlke of Gaylord, Barbara S. (Dan) Herrmann of Arlington, David W. (Heather) Ehlke of Pemberton, and Ruth E. (Derrick) Schmidt of Springdale, AR., Extended family; Janet & Terry Deno family of Arlington, Denise Harris family of Arlington, Bonnie Anderson of Kansas, Sandy (Tim) Hendrycks of St. Peter, Susan (David) Lick of Grand Rapids and Kim Carpenter of Minneapolis, grandchildren; Justina Ehlke, Travis Weber, Josh & Zach Ehlke, Dawson & Jaden Ehlke, Faith, Mercedes, Gavin and Zoe Schmidt, great grandchildren; Kiara Hahn and Dawson Frauendienst, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, sister; Margaret (Paul) Meyer of Ankeny, IA., siblings-in-law; Clinton (Cleo) Mitchell of Osage, IA, Clayton Werner of Osage, IA., Lester (Oma) Mitchell of Red Oak, TX. and Arthur (Connie) Berge of Osage, IA. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, son Paul William, parents and parents-in-law, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Mary Berge, Florence Werner, Phyllis Mitchell, Charles Mitchell and Lloyd Mitchell.
