Yvonne Mae (Kerkow) Woestehoff

Yvonne Woestehoff, age 87 of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service will be 11a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.   Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Yvonne was born on May 7, 1933 in Blakeley Township, Scott County to Erwin and Ludina (Tesch) Kerkow.  She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1950. On December 26, 1952 she married Earl Woestehoff.  After graduation Yvonne did office work for Green Giant in Le Sueur and then again before her daughter was born.  She and Earl farmed in the Assumption area until 2010 when they moved to Belle Plaine.

She enjoyed telling stories of her and her siblings’ childhood.  She was very interested in learning and researching her family history.  Yvonne was very proud to be a farm wife; and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Yvonne is survived by her son, Donald Woestehoff; daughter, Doris (Jeff) Sternberg; daughter-in-law, Diane Woestehoff; five grandchildren, Jenny (Ben) Halbert, Shelly Trost (special friend, Tim Oestreich), Eric (Jessica) Woestehoff, Katelyn (Eric) Ottum, and Connor Sternberg; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Christensen and Helen Stern; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; son, David; three children in infancy; grandson-in-law, David Trost; brothers, Erwin Kerkow, Jr. (Eileen) and Bill Kerkow (Arlene); sister, Lois Landela (Roy); brothers-in-law, Lee Christensen, and Dan Stern; sisters-in-law, Marion Moenke (LeRoy), and Delores Woestehoff; and niece, Marilyn Moenke.
