Arlene Manthe age 95 of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at her home in Belle Plaine. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Martin Bentz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Lutheran Home Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Arlene Ella was born at home on October 18, 1926, in McPherson Township, Blue Earth County to Albert and Ella (Schroeder) Buecksler. She grew up in the Pemberton area and graduated from Pemberton High School 1944, and Commercial College in 1945. On November 28, 1948, Arlene married Paul Manthe at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City, MN. They lived in the Pemberton area until moving to rural Belle Plaine in 1966. Arlene worked for the Easter Seal Society in Mankato, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and later for the Lutheran Home Association until 1994 when she retired. She enjoyed her family, her church, singing in several choirs, traveling, needle work, sewing Christmas and Easter dresses for her girls, new recipes, gardening and preserving food. Arlene’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul and son Gregory, her parents, Albert & Ella Buecksler, seven siblings: Robert, Verna (Preston), Leonard, Melvin, Gertrude (Stavenau), Ralph, Lawrence,
Arlene is survived by her children, Jean (Jeff) Beifuss of Salt Lake City, UT, Joan (David) Schulz of Bloomington, MN, Tim Manthe of Henderson, MN, and Kay (James) Carlson of Henderson, MN. 13 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, many nieces & nephews.
