Arvin Bessel, age 70 of Belle Plaine, passed away on September 21, 2022, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Arvin was born in New Prague on June 23, 1952 to Warren and Mabel (Laabs) Bessel. He grew up on the family farm outside Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1970. On October 14, 1972 he married Marjorie Schuman. They lived in Belle Plaine and Arvin continued to farm his family farm with his brother David until recently. He worked at Anchor Glass in Shakopee from 1971 to 2017. He loved his family and was a great husband, father and grandpa. Arvin loved farming and fishing.. He loved going to tractor shows, flea markets and recently purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle which he loved riding with his wife Midge and son, Tony. He also loved making locker corn and Christmas cookies with his daughter, Monica. He adored his 3 grandchildren and loved spending time with them on the weekends. He enjoyed playing basketball and playing card games with Jackson and Olivia and was so proud of his grandson Jacob. He is preceded in death by his parents.
