Beatrice Koester Obituary

Beatrice Mae Koester (Lentz) age 93 of Hastings and formerly of Glencoe, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.  Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe.  Rev. Jon Niebuhr will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Glencoe City Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church.

Beatrice was born on March 9, 1930, in Henry, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Jaehn) Lentz. She was reborn as a child of God in Holy Baptism. She was confirmed on April 2, 1944.

Beatrice was united in holy marriage to Leonard Frank Dubisar on November 20, 1947. God blessed their marriage with three children: Douglas, Linda, and Joel. They were blessed with twenty-four years of marriage. Leonard preceded her in death on June 25, 1971.

Beatrice was then united in marriage to Raymond Koester on March 16, 1973. They were blessed with thirty-one years of marriage. God blessed her life with Ray’s children: Jolene, Jane, Jim, Julie, and Joan. Ray passed away on January 1, 2004.

Beatrice was raised in Henry, South Dakota, and the family later moved to Gibbon, MN. She completed the eighth grade at District 76 in rural Gibbon.

After Beatrice’s marriage to Leonard, Glencoe became her lifelong home. She worked at various places in Glencoe, including Telex Communications, Starky Hearing Aids, Coast to Coast Hardware store, and the Star Motel.

Beatrice spent her spare time refinishing countless pieces of furniture, sewing, quilting, fishing, flower gardening, feeding orioles, polka dancing, and playing cards with her family and close friends.

Beatrice was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Throughout her many years at Good Shepherd, she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, church choir, served in the church’s kitchen, coordinated the annual garage sales, visited shut-ins, and made countless quilts. She loved being part of the quilting group at church. For many years she served as one of the church’s custodians and cared for the flowers outside the church. Our Lord sustained her in her faith up until her death on February 6, 2024, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Hastings, MN.

Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joel; stepson Jim; sisters Alma, Edna, Marlian, and Evelyn; her brothers August, Henry “Jerry,” Otto “Skinny,” Dan, William “Uncle Bill,” Herbert, Leigh, and Frederick “Fritz;” spouses of her sisters and brothers; and nieces and nephews.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter Linda Anderberg (Steve) of Cottage Grove, MN; her son Rev. Douglas Dubisar (Nancy) of Marshall, MO; stepdaughters Jolene Koester (Ron Lustig) of Solana Beach, CA; Jane Stuedemann (Ron) of Andover, MN; Julie Schlinder (Tom) of Sun Prairie, WI; Joan Aune (Steve Erenberger) of Cedar Rapids, IA; step-daughter-in-law Judy Koester of Apple Valley, MN; her grandchildren Andrea, Beth, and Abby; step-grandchildren Michael, Alex, Karl, Kelly, Jon, Katie, Jordan, Jacob, and Janae; her great-grandchildren Jordan, Mason, Grace, Emma, Oscar, and Clementine; step-great-grandchildren Joseph, Raymond, William, Sophia, Kaeva, Jackson, Nathan, Hadley, Piper, and Raymond James.
