William “Bill” Nagel, age 87 of Arlington passed away peacefully Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
William Louis Nagel was born on February 2, 1933 to Paul and Frieda (Oldenburg) Nagel at the family farm in Arlington Township. He was baptized on February 19, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Arlington by Rev. Busch. On April 14, 1946 he was confirmed at the very same church by Rev. Weseloh. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Arlington High School.
Bill’s occupation was a John Deere tractor mechanic. His career began with Ben Bode Implement in Arlington. He worked for other John Deere Implement dealers as well as various other agriculture-related jobs. Bill enjoyed watching sports and was a bowler himself. He liked playing cards, was active in 4-H and especially loved visiting with people. Bill was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Bill is survived by his siblings; Audrey Sander, Elaine Nelson, Lowell Nagel, Paul (Vonnie) Nagel, Sharon (Larry) Sickmann, Richard (Roseann) Nagel and Philip Nagel, sister-in-law; Joan Nagel and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Frieda Nagel, brothers; Stanley and Daryl, and siblings-in-law; Joyce White, Rudy Sander, DeWain Nelson and Bonnie Nagel.
