Carol Mary O’Neill Waters, age 85, died on September 7, 2023, at French Meadow Place in LeSueur, MN, with loving family at her side.
Service information: Mass of Christian Burial September 11, 2023, at 11 am with visitation one hour before mass at St Thomas Catholic Church, St Thomas, MN. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
Carol was born, along with her twin sister Kay, on September 4, 1938, in Minneapolis to Thomas Hugh O’Neill and Florence Conlogue O’Neill, and grew up on the O’Neill homestead near St Thomas, MN. Carol attended country school in Tyrone Township and graduated from LeSueur High School in 1956. She then lived in Minneapolis and worked at Twin City Federal until moving to Arizona where she met her husband, Bob Waters, and they married in 1971. Carol was a loyal Motorola employee for many years in Mesa, Arizona until she retired. Many of Carol’s MN family and friends loved to visit her and Bob, and she welcomed everyone. After Bob passed away in 2008, Carol returned to live in her hometown of Le Sueur, MN. Carol loved to travel, camp with her husband, walk in the pastures around St Thomas or the foothills of the AZ Superstition mountains. She also enjoyed photography, painting, cheering for the MN Twins, spending time with family and friends. She liked to have fun, tease, and laugh. Carol will be greatly missed, but always remembered for her warmth, kindness, generosity, faith, and gentle spirit. “Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever.”
Carol is survived by her sisters Kay (Jim) Bratsch and Helen Leider; sisters-in-law Muriel O’Neill and Josie O’Neill; many nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Bill (Jean), Jim, and Dick, brother-in-law Hugo Leider.
If you would like to make a memorial donation – Carol liked to give to Veteran’s causes, children’s hospitals, or to her churches (St Thomas or St Annes).
The family would like to thank staff at French Meadow Place and Mayo Hospice for care provided to Carol recently.
