Daniel James Carlson died at age 45 on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. Peace at the last. Born to Ann and James Carlson, he first greeted the light of day on a Sunday night at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar, MN, on July 10, 1977. He grew up in Lake Lillian, Hendricks, and Arlington, all in MN. He was graduated from Sibley East High School in 1995. His final residence was in Gaylord, MN. In his younger years Dan enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding. Artistically inclined, he enjoyed singing, playing guitar, listening to performers, composing and recording guitar and vocal music, drawing, and astronomy. He found particular inspiration and comfort from “The Pale Blue Dot” by Carl Sagan, as available online. His friends and family members enjoyed his sense of humor and quick wit, aligned with a striking intellect, as he noted the ironies at work amid the human condition. His family is grateful for the care and the peace he experienced during his final months of life, after his many years of a sometimes-challenging trek through this world. In his final months, he often expressed appreciation for brothers’, friends’, nurses’ and medical technicians’ compassion, assistance, and comfort, especially for the remarkable aid he received at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Daniel is survived by his parents, brothers Matthew (Helene), Seattle, WA, and Peter (Caitlin), and their children Hagen and Declan of Cannon Falls, MN, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, as well as his 2 feline companions, Buddy and Macs. A gathering for remembrance is planned for April 1, from noon to 4:00 PM, at the Zion Lutheran Church basement in Arlington, MN, {814 West Brooks Street} on a come-and-go basis.
