Darlene Boehne age 86 of Le Sueur, formerly of Henderson, died on Friday evening, August 5, 2022 at the Comfort First Residence in Le Sueur, MN. Memorial services will be on Friday, August 26, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be at the church that morning from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow the service in the church social hall followed by burial in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington, MN.
Darlene was born to Arnold and Marilla (Timm) Narr on April 30th, 1936 in Belle Plaine, MN. She grew up on the Narr family farm near Silver Lake in Jessenland Township. Darlene was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Arlington, MN. She graduated from Arlington High School on May 27th, 1953. On that special day she became engaged to the love of her life, Edwin Roy Boehne. Ed and Darlene were married at St. Paul’s parsonage on June 14th, 1955 followed by a reception at the Narr farm.
Darlene and Ed lived in the Le Sueur area in the early years of their marriage until settling on their hobby farm along the Minnesota River outside of Henderson to raise their four children. Darlene enjoyed raising and showing horses alongside Ed. As their family grew, so did their passion for horses. It became a family affair with many ribbons and trophies to show for their dedication. A tidbit many may not know is their horses were featured in the opening scene of Prince’s Purple Rain.
Darlene spent her life serving others. First as a candy striper at Arlington Hospital, and then at various other jobs in the area. Retiring from the job she loved most, preparing food for Meals on Wheels from the Henderson kitchen site through Lutheran Social Services. Even in her, final days at Comfort Residence in Le Sueur she made sure that those dining with her had “plenty” to eat. Just before eating you could hear her say, “Do we have everything? Now we’re good? Let’s pray.”
Darlene’s greatest enjoyment in life to the very end was her family. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Bruce) Holicky of Le Center, Dale (Sue) Boehne of Henderson, Joy (Darwin) Maas of St. Peter, Don (Bonita) Boehne of Henderson; 12 grandchildren, Sam Maas, Bruce Holicky, Abby (Brandon) Beer, Jesse (Brandee) Boehne, Teri (Josh) Hopkins, Katie (Jerron) Boser, Angie (Andy) Meyer, Kallie Boehne and special friend Tyler Cords, Chase Boehne and special friend Chelsea Morgan, Shane Boehne, Mista Weaver, Shyla Weaver along with 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson.
She is also survived by siblings Gloria Williams of Bronte, TX; Jerry (Ruth) Narr of Henderson, MN and Wendy (Curt) LeNoue of Battle Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Kenneth and Ronald, and granddaughter (in law) Jennifer Maas.
Darlene and Ed will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Arlington, MN.
