Daryl Robert Heldberg

Daryl Robert Heldberg, 91, son of Walter and Alma (Papke) Heldberg, died on Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Mankato, MN.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Christ in Cleveland, MN.  Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. that morning.  Military Honors will follow the service at the church, followed by lunch.  Burial will be in Elim-Welsh Cemetery, Ottawa Township, Le Sueur County.

Daryl was born on November 2, 1931 on the family farm in Ottawa Township.  He attended grade school in Ottawa Township and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1949.  He served in the United States Marine Corp. from February of 1952 – 1954.  He served on Whidbey Island in Washington as a Military Policeman.  When he completed his service, he returned to farm with his brother Bill. 

He married Marva Moe on August 24, 1968.  They were the parents of Karl and Frank.  He sold Dekalb seed corn, sold insurance for Kelso Insurance then became Director and Treasurer for Kelso & Shelby Farmers Mutual for 37 years.  He also delivered the Home Magazine on Route #1 for many years and was a member of Le Sueur County Pioneer Power.

He is survived by his wife Marva and two sons; Karl (Nancy) Heldberg and their children; Garrett, Luke and Gretchen.  Son, Frank (Rachel) Heldberg and their children; Marshall and Jacquelyn.  1 nephew and 2 nieces and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Quentin, Kermit, Bill, Charles and one nephew.
