Obituary

Daryl Melvin Zabel, age 69 of Gaylord, died on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  Celebration of life will be held at Neisen's Bar in Gaylord, Minnesota on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 3-6 P.M. 

Daryl was born on April 28, 1954 to Melvin and Selma (Vinkemeier) Zabel in Shakopee, MN.  He grew up in the Belle Plaine and Henderson areas.  He attended Trinity Lutheran grade school in Belle Plaine and graduated from Henderson High School.  He worked a short time in Montgomery, MN before a long 47 year career at the Le Sueur Foundry, (LSI).  He retired at the age of 67 and continued to work part-time for LSI until his illness.  He enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his truck, hunting, playing cards with his family and spending time with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his brother; Don (Marilyn) Zabel of Belle Plaine, MN and sister, Lois Harens and her special friend Lester Bening of Arlington, MN.  Seven nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
