Duane Duenow Obituary

Duane Mark Duenow, age 68 of Midland, Texas (formerly of Arlington, Minnesota) passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 unexpectedly in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Arlington, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at Kolden Funeral Home from 9:00 - 10:00AM. We will then proceed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the 10:30AM Mass. Burial will follow Mass at the Arlington Public Cemetery. Lunch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Social Hall will follow.

Duane Mark Duenow was born on December 13, 1954 in Arlington, Minnesota, the son of Lawrence and Vivian Duenow. He attended and graduated from Arlington - Green Isle High Schools in 1973. He then attended Mankato Vo-tech for Auto Mechanics, later attending Mankato State University for Law Enforcement. Duane married Patricia Kauffmann on October 29, 1977 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington and were blessed with two children, James and Anne. Duane worked a wide variety of jobs over the years, a few include; Johnson Motors in Glencoe, he owned and operated the Standard Station in Arlington with his father Lawrence for several years and most notably he was the Green Isle Chief of Police and Arlington Chief of Police for a great number of years. Duane retired in 2009, and moved to Midland, Texas to enjoy the warm weather with family and friends. Some of Duane’s greatest joys in life and greatest memories came from camping, boating, fishing, hunting, attending and watching his children and grandchildren at horse shows. He was always willing to lend a hand or help someone in need. Duane enjoyed volunteering at the Minnesota State 4H Horse Show and working at the Big Iron Truck Show for many years. He liked to catch up with friends, tell stories and make people laugh. Duane loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his parents; Lawrence and Vivian Duenow. Children; James (Rachel) Duenow, Anne (Brad) Smith, Former Wife; Patricia Duenow, Brother; Kevin Duenow, Grandchildren; Avarie Duenow, Jacie Duenow, Brynlie Duenow, Morgan Smith, Jorie Duenow, Sawyer Smith and Elsie Duenow. Nephews; Shane Duenow and Adam Duenow.
