Earl A. Woestehoff, age 88 of Belle Plaine passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at JA Wedum Hospice Home in Brooklyn Park. There will be a one hour visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11th at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine followed by a procession to the Oakwood Cemetery for a graveside service at approximately 11:10 a.m. The graveside service will conclude with military honors by the Belle Plaine veterans organization.
Earl was born on July 30, 1931in rural Henderson to Alfred and Rosa (Schmidt) Woestehoff. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Church in Henderson. He attended Henderson Elementary School until the fifth grade and then went on to graduate from Belle Plaine High School in 1949. Earl served his country in the US Navy from 1951 – 1955 and was stationed in New London, Connecticut. On December 26, 1952, during his time as a sailor, Earl married Yvonne Kerkow at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. He farmed in the Assumption area until sometime in the early 2000’s when he and Yvonne moved to Belle Plaine. Earl loved his drives around the countryside looking at farms and also enjoyed attending auctions.
Earl is survived by his wife, Yvonne Woestehoff; son, Donald Woestehoff; daughter, Doris (Jeff) Sternberg; daughter-in-law, Diane Woestehoff; five grandchildren, Jenny (Ben) Halbert, Shelly Trost (special friend Tim Oestreich), Eric (Jessica) Woestehoff, Katelyn (Eric) Ottum, Connor Sternberg; 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son David, three children in infancy, grandson-in-law David Trost, sisters & brother-in-law Delores Woestehoff, Marion & LeRoy Moenke and niece, Marilyn Moenke.
