Age 91 of Belle Plaine, Minnesota born June 29, 1928
passed away peacefully at his home on Father's Day, June 21st
of natural causes and was last surviving sibling of six children.
Private Family Mass of Christian Burial (due to Covid-19) will be held on
June 24th, at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church
with burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors.
Evan went to a country school until 8th grade and then helped on the family farm.
He worked for the Omaha Railroad until he was drafted
into the Army for a two year term in 1951. Served in the Korean War
as Private First Class and discharged in 1953.
Met Bernice Doyle in 1947 and married in November 1951 at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Henderson, Minnesota while in the service
He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 39 years
working on bridges, plumbing and many other maintenance issues.
Lived in St. Paul in bunk cars in earlier years only going home on the weekends
due to the long drive into work.
Evan enjoyed camping, listening to old time music, polka fests,
picking mushrooms, woodworking and looking for 4-leaf clovers.
