Gregory Goblirsch Obituary

Gregory C. Goblirsch, 84, of Arlington, Minnesota died on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Good Samaritan in Arlington.   Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the Church of St. Mary in Arlington.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Gregory was born on May 17, 1937 in Woodstock, Minnesota to Albert and Stella (Streff) Goblirsch.  He was raised in Dunlap, Iowa, where he graduated from high school.  He earned his B.A. from the University of Iowa and then served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from  Mankato State College in 1967.

Gregory married Maurine Doom on  November 28, 1959 at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, Minnesota.  The family moved to Arlington in 1964, where he spent the majority of his career as a guidance counselor at the high school, retiring in 1993.  Greg was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, active in Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society, Public Cemetery Board and was an ambulance volunteer.

He is survived by his wife, Maurine; children, Alison (Steve) Schumacher of Detroit Lakes, Greg (Sue) Goblirsch of River Falls, WI and Jim (April Herndon) Goblirsch of Winona; grandchildren,  Maura, Kathryn, Anna, Claire, Sam and Josh; siblings, Genevieve White, Lucille Clark, Dorothy Weinberger of Denver,  Mary Fox of St. John’s, Michigan, Tom (Gerry) Goblirsch of Delmar, California and Albert Goblirsch of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Grace and Jacob, and siblings, Monica Willet, Virgil and Linus Goblirsch, Ann Langenfeld and Jane Traichel.
