Harold F. Gregory, age 85 of Belle Plaine, died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home in Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 24 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, with Fr. Brian Lynch officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Belle Plaine with military honors.
Harold was born on February 21, 1933 to Henry and Alvina (Brandl) Gregory on the family farm in Belle Plaine. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954. He married Mary Skluzacek on October 8, 1955 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Harold worked as a brick layer for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time at their cabin up north in Remer, MN. Harold especially enjoyed his grandchildren, and teaching them the ropes of life which included shooting BB guns, yard fishing off of his boat, and building wooden guns.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary; children, Carmen (Steve) Davis, Jerry (significant other, Janice Molitor) Gregory, Cindy (Frank) Nikols, Ron (Sue) Gregory, and Bernadette (Dave) Loegering; grandchildren, Peter (Amy) Hormann, Sarah Slattery, Katie (Ryan) Anderson, Justin (Heidi) Davis, Brent Davis, Matt (Diana) Gregory, Brenna Gregory, Monique, Mia, Chloe, Demi, and Bianca Nikols, Sam and Josh Gregory, and Nate Loegering; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Margaret) Gregory, Kate (Jim) Conroy, and Alice Gobeli; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Joe Gregory, Agnes Ryan, Norbert Gregory, Betty Lambrecht, and Mary Gregory.
