Jeanette Stenzel Obituary

Jeanette (Jan) A Stenzel, age 80 of Maple Grove MN passed away September 12, 2023, at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale. A home-going celebration will be held Saturday October 21, 2023, at MapleRidge Church 13400 Maple Knoll Way N., Maple Grove MN 55369. Visitation will be from 10-11, followed by the service at 11:00. Interment will be in the Arlington MN Cemetery this fall.

Jeanette was born on March 15, 1943, near Glencoe MN to Albin and Mildred (Bartels) Stenzel. Jeanette attended Sibley County Country School, and then St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Arlington. She graduated from the Arlington Green Isle High School in 1961.  In 1963 she completed nurses training and received her license in practical nursing. Jeanette moved to Van Nuys CA to begin her 40-year career in healthcare. She returned to MN in 1966 and nursed at several hospitals including, the Glencoe hospital, the VA, and General Hospital (now HCMC).  She also served as a home care nurse, provided care at nursing homes, and a men’s homeless shelter, she also supervised healthcare at Board and Care facilities.  Jeanette was the Residence Director at Elder Homestead Assisted living in Minnetonka MN for 13 years before retiring in 2003.

Jeanette cared about people and was a strong advocate and supportive of anyone she could help on her life’s journey.  She could see someone’s need and was always willing to help whether in her nursing capacity or among family and friends.  Jeanette volunteered at church until her health prevented it.

In her younger years she enjoyed camping, gardening, and biking.  Baking and cooking were a favorite pastime.  She was a voracious reader.  Jeanette always had a dog or two and loved spending time with children.

Jeanette is survived by her siblings, Jerry Stenzel and sister-in-law Judy, Larry Stenzel, Pamela Stenzel, her beloved nieces and nephews, Uncle Marvin Bartels (Pat), Uncle Ed Scheele, and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Roger Stenzel, and other relatives.
