Jill M (Heimkes) Ernst

Jill Marie Ernst, age 60, passed away at her home on March 27, 2023. Jill was born on April 16, 1962 to Ray and Mavis (Oelke) Heimkes. She grew up in Green Isle, MN with her parents and siblings. She was the only daughter with four brothers.

As a child Jill was wild, which continued into her later years. She loved music and dancing, and encouraged everyone to join her on the dance floor. She’s always had a love of sports - especially softball, both watching and playing. We’re sure she’s ringing her cowbell in Heaven!

Jill met her husband, Doug, in 2006 and they were married on March 20, 2009. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending time at their lake house, going on the pontoon, and caring for their grandchildren.

Jill’s love for life was contagious and she made friends wherever she went. Whether it was volunteering at church serving meals, selling wine through Traveling Vineyards, or hosting her beloved family gatherings.

Despite her health challenges, Jill stayed positive and did whatever she needed to do to manage her own health so she could continue living life to the fullest. Her independence and strength was admirable.

Jill is preceded in death by her mother Mavis (Oelke) Heimkes, mother in-law Geraldine Ernst, stepmother Doris (Zeiher) Heimkes, brothers Doug and Scott Herrmann, and nephew Phillip Herrmann.

She is survived by her husband Doug Ernst, sons Josh (Krista) Wurzberger, Luke (Kelsey) Meier, Jared Christensen, and Logan (Ashley) Christensen, step children Jesse (Ryley Neal) Ernst and Nicole (William Pfoser) Probst, 13 grandchildren, father Ray Heimkes, brothers Dan (Jane) Herrmann and Billy Heimkes, brother in-laws Greg (Paula) Ernst and Tom (Maria) Ernst, 3 nieces and a nephew.

Services will be held on Tuesday April 4th from 11am-1pm at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, MN. Celebration of Life to follow at Grey Fox Tavern in Green Isle, MN.
