John was born November 9, 1957, to Ray and Yvonne Meierbachtol. He grew up on the family farm in Blakeley Township and attended and graduated from Belle Plaine schools. He was a faithful member of St Paul’s UCC where he was baptized, confirmed and married the love of his life, Katie on December 5, 1986. He farmed and trucked his whole life. He was looking forward to retirement, fishing with his grandson Freddy, taking his wife Katie to work and going to get her. John was always a happy person and friendly with everyone. He loved his sandwiches. He was quite a character, even inventing the bobcat dance for a wedding.
John is survived by his beautiful wife Katie; two lovely daughters Mindy (Dave) of Carver and Molly (Cameron) Braun of Le Sueur. Two wonderful grandchildren Fredrick and Eleanor Braun. Siblings: Irene (Brian) Grochow of New Auburn, Donald (Schatze) of Belle Plaine and Dale (Kim) of Belle Plaine. Mother-in-law Ginny Brandt of Belle Plaine. Brothers and sisters-in-law; Thom (Sally Jo) Nelson of Virginia, Dave (Kathy) Nelson of Ramsey, Larry Nelson of Le Sueur, Mary Koze (Greg) Martens of Apple Valley and many, many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents Yvonne and Ray Meierbachtol and father-in-law George Nelson.
