John Rickaby

John F. Rickaby, age 83, of Belle Plaine passed away on September 27, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Pastor Ted Vanderpan will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at church. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors in Belle Plaine.

John was born on October 7, 1939, to Frederick and Ethel (Harmsen) Rickaby in Minneapolis, MN. The family lived in Minneapolis for a few years before moving to the East Union area where he spent most of his life. John graduated from Chaska High School. John married Lois Noll on August 7, 1965, at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN. John drove truck for many years before retiring from Aggregate Industries in 2001.

John loved to fish, hunt, play cards and travel with his wife. John took great joy in watching his grandchildren in all their activities and providing them with countless lessons.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jody Lynn; granddaughter, Paige Schoenbauer; sister, Irene and parents-in-law, Clarence and Arvilla Noll.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Belle Plaine; son, Jeff (Kristen) Rickaby of Hamburg; daughter, Jackie (Jason) Schoenbauer of Jordan; grandchildren, Hunter Rickaby, Holden Rickaby, Carson Schoenbauer and Addy Schoenbauer; brother, Richard (LaVonne) Rickaby; sister, Betty (Bob) Roe; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
