Joseph Lenz, age 81 of Belle Plaine, passed away on May 22, 2022, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on May 27, 2022 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Michael Kaluza will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the Mass at church on Friday. Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Memorials are preferred.
Joe was born in Ellsworth, on June 30, 1940, to Arthur and Rosalia (Witt) Lenz. He grew up in Rock County and at a young age, moved to Union Hill. He graduated from New Prague High School and St. Thomas University. Joe married Carole Queen on June 9, 1962, at Marysburg Catholic Church in Madison Lake. They made their homes in Madelia, Belle Plaine, Adrian, Litchfield and back to Belle Plaine recently to be closer to family. Serviced as a police officer in Blue Earth County and Meeker County and as Police Chief in Madelia, Belle Plaine, and Adrian. He transitioned to Meeker County Jail Administrator to finish his career. If not at work, he could be found golfing or attending high school sporting events as a spectator or coach. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. He cherished family and friends and making sure people in his presence were happy and smiling.
Joe is preceded by his beloved wife Carole and many other loved family members. He is survived by his stepbrother Norm (Lori) Pint, sons, Randy (Audrey) Lenz of Mankato and Matt (Julie) Lenz of Belle Plaine,
Grandchildren, Kayla, Taylor, Alexa, Sarah & Leah,
Great Grandchild, Amar’e,
Many nieces & nephews.
