Judy (Judi) Lee Evers , age 76 of North Mankato, MN died on May 8th 2020 at a Birchwood Cottages in North Mankato.
Judy was born in Los Angeles California on May 10 1943. She was the daughter of Victor and Lucille Beutler. Judy grew up in Dilworth Minnesota and graduated from high school there in 1961. She married Darrell Nohr in 1963. Judy worked at several businesses in the Fargo/Moorhead area and gave birth to her first son Chris Nohr on February 29, 1964.
She divorced and later met and married her second husband, Howard Peterson. They lived in Glyndon Minnesota until moving to Lake Benton Minnesota, where Judy’s son, Matthew Peterson was born on February 22, 1974.
Judy made many friends in the Lake Benton area. She worked at a florist and became involved in the local community activities. She was divorced an later met Ewald Evers. They moved to Ewald’s farm near Lake Benton. Judy and Ewald became involved and well known in the county for breeding and showing prize winning miniature horses.
Judy was an avid animal lover, adopting and caring for numerous stray animals on the farm. Judy and Ewald traveled extensively, camping along the way in the Western US. Judy fell in love the states of Montana and South Dakota and vowed to move there after each camping trip to those states.
Ewald died in 2002, after a long illness and Judy retired from the horse business after her and her special friend Randy Burgis found homes for the remaining horses. Randy died in a tragic farm accident and Judy later moved to her house in Tyler, where she lived with her dogs until moving to North Mankato in 2018.
Judy is survived by sons, Matthey Peterson of Denver Colorado and Chris Nohr of Wayzeta Minnesota; siblings, David Beutler of Mankato MN, Linda Johnson of Fargo, and Steven Beutler of Fort Meyers Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
