Julianne Shaw, age 50 of rural Gaylord, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18th at 5:00 pm at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. A gathering of family and friends will be one hour before, at 4:00 pm at the church. Julianne Myra Shaw was born April 14, 1972 in Arlington to Roger and Myra (Dammann) Jahr. Julianne was a Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School graduate and also attended Martin Luther College. Julianne was a paraprofessional at Sibley East Schools for 25 years, and truly loved working with the children. She also loved working with many of the other staff members at Sibley East. She was also involved in the daycare at Sibley East, and many after school activities. Prior to working at school, Julianne was an activity assistant in a nursing home, and directly prior to her death, she was a manager of The American Legion in Gaylord. Julianne was the coordinator for the Arlington Farmer’s Market, had an active part in the Sibley East school garden, was a member of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, an ArliDazzle coordinator, and an Eggstravaganza volunteer in Gaylord. What Julianne loved the most was working with children and planting a garden, because planting a seed is believing in tomorrow. While making a difference in her community, Julianne also taught some important life lessons along the way. Give someone a second chance. Show up for someone when no one else is showing up for them. Don’t kick someone when they are down. Plant a flower and reap the benefits of what you sow. Ask people how they TRULY are when you suspect things aren’t going well, and BE PREPARED TO LISTEN. Allow people the time to feel sad and experience their emotions, without cancelling their emotions. Julianne had a big smile and a huge, kind heart. One of the last posts that Julianne made was that we must all take care of one another and you must be good to yourself. She ended it with #wealldobetterwhenwealldobetter, and that couldn’t be more true. In 1996, Julianne married Terry Shaw. Julianne is survived by her husband, Terry, siblings Tim (Julie) Jahr, and Jodie (Gene) Johnson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Amanda (Todd) Fisher, Laura (Tim) Tracy, Marty (Therese) Jahr, Cory (Dani) Johnson, Jennifer Jahr, Connor Johnson, Joe (Tammy) Shaw, and Brooke Melius, and also great nieces and nephews, whom she loved spending time with. Julianne was preceded in death by two infant children, Dakota and Betty, and parents, Roger and Myra Jahr.
