Leland "Pete" Allen Peterson

Leland “Pete” Allen Peterson, age 87, of Le Sueur passed away on June 27, 2023. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 to 11. Interment with Military Honors will be at Mound Cemetery following the service. Lunch to follow in church social hall.

Pete was born on June 10, 1936 to Chester and Geneva (Skog) Peterson. He was born and raised in Albert City, Iowa where he also graduated high school. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army from 1955-1957 and was based out of White Sands, New Mexico. He married Patricia “Pat” McGuire on June 13, 1959 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN.

He worked for Multi Foods International which brought him and Pat through many states….and they later settled in Le Sueur, Minnesota in 1971. Pete retired in 2002 which then lead him to the best job he ever had, babysitting his great-granddaughter, Alexis. Pete enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it was sitting outside by the bonfire, watching his beloved birds, or reading a book. He spent time with his family and friends every chance he got.  

Pete is survived by his wife, Patricia, children, Deb (Kevin) Meyer, Tim (Roberta) Peterson, and Jeff “Peach” (life partner, Valerie Napper) Peterson, and honorary son, Scott (Dena) Viola, sister, Susie Wallerick, sister-in-law, Helen Peterson, grandchildren, Matt (life partner, Lindsay Gilman) Meyer, Michelle Meyer, Joe (Christina) Meyer, Emily Peterson, and Cameron (significant other, Heather Johnson) Peterson, 4 great-grandchildren, special niece, Donnie Vogler, and many other relatives & friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Geneva, and brother, Curtis “Curt” Peterson, parents-in-law, Maggie and Loren Durland, and brothers-in-law, Tom (Donna) McGuire and Ed (Barry) McGuire, Bert McGuire, and nephew, Tommy McGuire.
