Marian Hennen

Marian Hennen, age 99 of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27th surrounded by her family.  Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on May 12, 2023 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.  Fr. Michael Kaluza will officiate.  Visitation will be 9-10:30 AM prior to the Mass at the church.  Interment will immediately follow Mass at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Luncheon will be served following the burial at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church.

Marian was born in Chaska on October 24, 1923 to Jacob and Ida (Derhaag) Van Sloun.  She was the 2nd to the oldest of 4 children growing up on the family farm (now the Hazeltine Golf Course).  Marian attended and graduated from Guardian Angels Catholic School in Chaska. Upon graduation Marian lived in Minneapolis and worked as a seamstress. Marian met and fell in love with Ron Hennen at one of the many dance halls they attended. After a long courtship they married on June 28, 1949 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. 

Ron and Marian settled in Belle Plaine where they welcomed and raised 5 children.  Aside from being a wonderful housewife and mother, Marian enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, ceramics and golfing. She also worked side by side with Ron assisting customers at their store, Hennen’s Jewelry. With Marian’s deep faith, she volunteered for over 45 years as a Sacristan as well as a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Meals on Wheels.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron, infant daughter Connie, daughter-in-law Ann Hennen and siblings, Rose Hennen, Don Van Sloun and Normie Van Sloun.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Mary) Hennen of Inver Grove Heights, Paul Hennen of Coon Rapids, Mary Kay (Tim) Rossebo of Woodbury, Carol (Neal) Hauser of Prior Lake, and Carl (Miki) Hennen of Chaska.  10 Grandchildren, Matt, Rachel, Sarah, Doug, Jared, Maria, Joe, Sophia, Luke and Nicole.  9 Great Grandchildren, Levi, Caleb, Grace, James, Francis, Harrison, Owen, Gavin and Charlotte.
