Marie Duenow, age 95 of Green Isle passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Golden Hearts Senior Living Center in Arlington. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23rd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time Friday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
Marie was born in New Auburn on October 9, 1925 to Carl and Marie (Grack) Pieschke. She was baptized on November 8, 1925 at Zion Lutheran Church, New Auburn. On April 2, 1939 she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. On June 16, 1946 she married Marvin Duenow also at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Marie and Marvin started farming for Marvin’s uncle Edwin Duenow. Later they worked at the Arlington canning factory. In the early 1950’s they farmed in the Cosmos area. From the late 1950’s until retirement, they farmed in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County. Marie was a helpful companion to Marvin with the farm work and also attended to the many duties of being a homemaker.
Marie is survived by her son, Donovan (Nelda) Duenow; grandchildren, Chad (Daedra) Duenow, Dustin (Christine) Duenow, Amber Ellis, Ben (Catherine) Duenow; 12 great grandchildren; Two great great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Lindeman. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Marvin on December 6, 2006.
