Richard H. Edberg, 66 of Belle Plaine, died suddenly on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. Due to COVID concerns, services will be private. There will be a public visitation & celebration on Saturday, January 16, 2021, 4:00 p.m. at the Roadhaus in Henderson, MN.

Rick was born February 9, 1954 to Harold and Ramona (Dean) Edberg. He lived his entire life in Belle Plaine, MN. He graduated from BPHS in 1972, where he then attended and wrestled for Mankato State – this is where if you hadn’t heard he made the dean’s list. After finishing school, he joined his father’s construction company. Later, he partnered with friends to form their own construction company. Until his death, he was very proud of his craftsmanship and working at By The Yard. Rick married his once in a lifetime love, Susie Straub, on August 23, 1975. Together, they raised their children Pat, Joe and Lindsay. Rick’s desire to help others was apparent in all projects, big and small, which he volunteered to family and friends near and far. Fall and winter would find Rick with friends and family, passing on his love and wisdom of hunting, fishing and anything with the great outdoors. Rick had also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren the joys of art and spent many hours with his father, Harold, working on puzzles. His passion for pool, softball, and hunting led him to an entire extended family that he loved to share his experiences and knowledge with. Above all, he enjoyed and loved spending time with his pride and joys – his children and grandchildren.

Rick will be sadly missed by all. Survived by: His adoring wife of 45 years, Susie. His father, Harold Edberg (Belle Plaine). Children: Pat (Lynette) Edberg (Belle Plaine), Joe Edberg (Belle Plaine), Lindsay Edberg (Killdeer, ND), and Pippy John Jones (the pup). Grandchildren: Adrianna (Derek), Alexis, Tanner, Madelyn, Grace, Aemilia, Jade, Logan, David, Catherine, Courtney (Taylor), Tony, Hunter, Rieley, Wyatt, Adeline, Sutton, Truett. Great grandchildren: Jordyn, Aspen, and Nash. Siblings: Dave (Polli), John (Patti), Connie (Tom) Kettler. Brothers/Sister–in–laws: Art (Barb), Don (Jane), Mary, Janet, Sam (Luann), Pete (Sylvia), Lyle (Connie) Straub, Louisa Voss. As well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death: Beloved mother Ramona, in–laws Harold and Catherine, Tim and Kenny Straub, and Gregg Voss.
