Rick Thramer

Richard Thramer, age 76, of Prior Lake and formerly of Belle Plaine passed away on January 24, 2023. Memorial Service will be held at noon on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.  Pastor Dan Jetto will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Lunch will immediately follow service at the Hope Residence community room, followed by a 2 pm graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery.

Richard was born on July 11, 1946 in Grand Rapids, MN to Clifford and Celia (Godfrey) Thramer. He grew up in the Minneapolis and Waseca areas.  Rick graduated from South High School.  Rick loved country music:  He entertained with his brothers’ band around the cities.

Rick worked as an auto mechanic, a machinist and later learned the art of tool & die. He worked  North Star Manufacturing in Minneapolis where he met his future wife, Linda Atwater in 1997.  Rick threw his whole heart into creating solutions at Nelson Stamping, Production Parts, and Ameristar Manufacturing.

Richard is survived by his sister Mary Philp, his children David Thramer and Dorie Olson, as well as step-children; Lindsay Atwater, Kelly Mayra and Andrew Atwater. 

His beautiful granddaughters Erica, Joann and Alycia were the apple of his one eye. 

He leaves behind a 1993 GMC Sierra Truck with 492,000 miles on it. 

Rick could fix anything yet found time to play his practical jokes on unsuspecting targets.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Thramer/Clifford and brother Bing Thramer/Charles.

Memorials can be given to River Rock Church where Rick played guitar in the worship team.
