Rosemary Burns, age 89 of Le Sueur, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur. Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 10 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur beginning with a C.C.W. Rosary at 3:45 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at church. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Following Mass, there will be a luncheon held at the St. Anne’s School in Le Sueur.
Rosemary was born on November 25, 1930 to Theodore and Gertrude (Glisczinski) Odenthal in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County. She graduated from Le Sueur High School and received a teaching degree and taught for a short time. She married Timothy J. Burns on August 18, 1951 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg. The couple lived, farmed, and raised their family near St. Thomas. She enjoyed her time on the farm and was very active at St. Thomas Catholic Church. She moved into Comfort Residence in Le Sueur.
Rosemary is survived by her children: Betty (Bruce) Olson of Le Sueur; Martha (John) May of Le Sueur; Ronald (Carolyn) Burns of Henderson; Patrick (Kayleen) Burns of St. Peter; Jeanne (Steve) Schwartz of Des Moines, IA; Daniel (Lisa) Burns of Henderson; Carolyn (Daniel) McQueen of Pequot Lakes; daughter-in-law, Michelle Burns of Le Sueur; and her 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren
Her surviving siblings include: Cornelius (Julia) Odenthal of Le Center; Dorothy (Donald) Patterson of Hinckley; Donald (Penny) Odenthal of Brooklyn Park; sister-in-law, Marilyn Odenthal of Arlington; and brother-in-law, Edward (Eileen) Burns of Lake Havasu, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Timothy J. Burns; twin children, Theresa “Teri” and Timothy G. Burns; and siblings, William Odenthal and Bernice Michel.
