Sharon Bird, age 74 of Arlington passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Golden Hearts Assisted Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3rd at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Normal Covid-19 guidelines will be practiced at the church for the visitation and funeral service.
Sharon was born in Mankato on November 29, 1946. She was the daughter of Harold and Loris (Brugess) Nemitz. On July 24, 1965 Sharon married Paul Bird at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. She was employed at Belle Plaine Plastics, Fingerhut, LeSueur Plastics and Michael Foods, retiring her factory career in 2011. Sharon enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle with her family. She had a fondness of horses. She also liked camping. Sharon was a former secretary of Charioteers and a former treasurer of the Henderson Sportsmen Club.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Loris and Harold Nemitz; brother, Donald Nemitz in infancy; sister, Tanya Taylor; and maternal grandmother, Julia Niemeyer
She is survived by her husband, Paul Bird of Arlington; children, Clifford (Ginger) Bird of Broadus, Montana, Julia (Guy) Osterfeld of Bird Island, Shianna Becerra of Arlington; grandchildren, Randy Bird, Jacob Bird, Trent Neisen, Nicole Neisen, Tori Osterfeld, Elizabeth Becerra, Veronica Oyuela, Aydan Ramos; great grandsons, Martin Bird and Liam Fox; siblings, Sandra Johnson, Stella Meyers, Linda (Leonard) Leviska, Marlene (Allen, Sr.) Robeck, Roxanne Blanco, Shelley Nemitz, Ronald (Laura) Nemitz, Brian (Lori) Nemitz, Jada (David) Welty and Tina Nemitz.
