Shirley Ann Laabs, age 85 of Belle Plaine, passed away on August 17, 2020 at Oak Terrace in Jordan. A visitation will be from 3-6P.M. on Sunday, August 23 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. A memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine at 11A.M. on Monday, August 24. Masks are required, limited capacity and social distancing will be in place. Due to COVID, there will not be a lunch after the service. Graveside service will follow the memorial service at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Shirley was born in Belle Plaine on January 11, 1935 to Alvin and Tillie (Trost) Stier. She grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. On September 11, 1954 she married David Laabs at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. She worked various administrative jobs throughout her carrer, most recently at the Scott County Highway Department. She spent winters in Arizona with David for many years. They enjoyed many travels together. She was very active at church. Shirley enjoyed time with her family, playing cards and fishing. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Cindy.

Children, Ann (Harry) Thiewes of Lakeville, Kristi (Les) Zellmann of St. James and Mark Laabs of Belle Plaine.
Grandchildren, Micah Stradcutter, Emily Olson, Jen (Nate) Zinnel, Ben (Kerri) Zellmann, Josh Denzer, Laura (Jared) Suel, Stephanie Denzer (Chris Comstock).
Great-Grandchildren, Lauren Olson, Sienna Olson, Annika Zinnel, Noah Morgan and Daniel Suel.

Sisters in law, Ruth Andersen and Marilyn Laabs, and many nieces and nephews.
