Shirley Sommers

Shirley Sommers, age 62 of Green Isle passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 16th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be at 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service time Thursday all at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Shirley was born in Arlington on January 31, 1948 to Erwin and June (Meyer) Dahlke. She was baptized March 7, 1948 by Rev. Koepp, confirmed on June 10, 1962 by Rev. Molotky, and married Larry Sommers on May 31, 1968 all at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Green Isle. Shirley worked 30 years at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She loved flower gardening, cross stitching, and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry Sommers of Green Isle; daughter, Julie (Jay) Zemke of Maple Grove; son, James (Krista) Sommers of Arlington; mother, June Dahlke of Waconia; grandchildren, Logan & Afton Zemke, Tanner, McKenzie, & Alexia Sommers; siblings, Betty (Charles) Selchow of Green Isle, Darrell (Myrna) Dahlke of Glencoe, Ronald (Betty) Dahlke of Green Isle, Marilyn (Jim) Uecker of Chaska, and Janice (Bob) Douglas of Reading, PA.; nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father and granddaughter, Madison Zemke. Casket bearers for the funeral are: Travis Dahlke, Nathan Dahlke, Dustin Dahlke, Donavon Selchow, James Rotzien, and Clint Knacke
