Shirley Youngblom

Shirley Youngblom, age 88 of Belle Plaine, formerly of Lafayette, MN died on Monday, May 3, 2021 at St. Gertrude’s in Shakopee.  Funeral services will be on Friday, May 7, 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 9:30-11 a.m.  Burial will follow service at First Lutheran Cemetery in Lafayette, MN. 

Shirley was born on March 7, 1933 in Lafayette, MN. She attended Lafayette schools and graduated from New Ulm High School.  She married Virgil Youngblom on February 4, 1955 at First Lutheran Church, Lafayette, MN.  They lived near Lafayette, MN for many years before moving to Belle Plaine in 1995.

Shirley was active in community theatre, was a Cub Scout Leader and taught Sunday School.  She enjoyed golfing, bowling, cooking, baking, antiquing, gardening and especially traveling with Virgil. 

She is survived by her children; Caren Grotberg of Belle Plaine, MN; Jim (Janey) Youngblom of Turlock, CA; Bob (Cindy) Youngblom of Lafayette, MN; Don (Inger) Youngblom of Asker, Norway and Rich (Kay) Youngblom of Inver Grove Hts, MN.  14 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children and brother in law, Jerome (Pauline) Youngblom of Zimmerman, MN.  Sisters in law, Ardie Lund & Mary Lund of New Ulm.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Virgil on April 18, 2021 and brothers, Bill (Delpha) Lund, Bud (Ethel) Lund, Gene (Louise) Lund, Shorty Lund and Jim Lund.
