Steven A. Bennett, age 72 of New Prague, formerly of Le Sueur died on Thursday, February 17, 2021 at Mayo Health Systems in New Prague.
Steven Allen Bennett, second son of Maxie Eual Bennett and Delores Elaine (Young) Bennett was born June 23, 1948 at Riverside Hospital, Paducah, Kentucky.
He was born with cerebral palsy, but rarely let that slow him down.
Steve was an intelligent, outgoing person. He loved Christian music, writing poetry, copying Bible scripture,loved God, and enjoyed visiting with anyone who had the time to talk.
One of his proudest times was as student manager of the St. Peter Saints High School basketball team. In 1967 the team went all the way to "The Barn" at the University of Minnesota, and Steve got to go along with the team.
Upon graduation from St. Peter High School, he lived in care facilities all of his adult life.He continued to befriend everyone he could. He enjoyed all of the workshops he was part of throughout his life. He worked as a busboy at Divanni's Pizza in Bloomington and enjoyed the work.
Surviving Steve are brothers Tony (Sonda) of Elk River and Mark (Patty) of St. Peter and sister-in-law, Charlotte Bennett; former sisters-in-law; Shari Nytes, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by parents Maxie and Delores, brothers Michael (Butch), and infant Joseph Patrick.
Cremation has taken place, and internment will be at a later Spring/early Summer at Ottawa Cemetery.
